Women gathered around a fresh ginger harvest in Butambala

From fresh root
to a finished pack.

The journey is hands-on, local and deliberate—from preparing the harvest in Butambala to packing natural ginger powder for the shelf.

Good ginger powder starts long before grinding.

Quality is shaped by how the root is handled after harvest: the care taken while sorting and slicing, the patience of drying and the discipline of finishing each pack.

Kibajjo keeps those stages connected so the team can see the product through from the raw harvest to a market-ready result.

At the farm, the harvest is prepared by hand.

Fresh roots are gathered, checked and cleaned. The ginger is then sliced to a consistent size so moisture can leave it more evenly.

Time, airflow and protected heat do the drying.

The sliced ginger is spread across raised trays inside a covered solar dryer.

The enclosed space helps shield the product while sunlight and moving air reduce its moisture. Team members return to the trays, turn the slices where needed and watch the texture change.

It is a slower part of the work—and one that cannot be rushed.

Then the dried ginger enters a controlled production room.

Once sufficiently dry, the ginger is milled into powder, measured and filled into retail pouches or shakers.

The team seals each pack, applies its label and checks the finished presentation before it leaves the room.
